Introduction : Yoga is essentially a spiritual discipline based on much subtle science which focuses on bringing harmony between mind and body. The word yoga derived from the sanskrit root 'Yuj' mmeaning to unite or to join. Yoga is an art and science of healthy living. Yoga is the practice to unite our mind, body and spirit.
Types of yoga : There are many types of yoga such as-
Anulom - Vilom : Anulom - Vilom is an sspecific tupe of pranayam. It involves holding one nostril closed while inhaling then holding other nostril closed while exhaling. The process is than repeated. There are many benefits of doing anulom-vilom such as - it improves immune system, it relieves mental problems like stress, tension. It improves the working of lungs.
Kapalbhati : Lapal means skull and bhati means shining. So, kapalbhati is an skull shining breathe. It helps to improve blood circulation and digestion.
Bhramri pranayam : Bhramri pranayam is a breathing technique. It is derived from the word Bhramra means black bee. It calms our mind and improves concentration and focus.
Importance of yoga : Yoga is very important for students. It helps to improve blood circulation in entire body. Yoga helps us to connect our body with nature. It helps to improve immune system. It helps to concentration and focus. It improves our strength, balance and flexibility. Yoga helps the students disciplin mind and body. It can change the confidence of students. It helps to sharpening our mind and improving our intelligence. Yoga gives a restful sleep.
Origin of Yoga : If we look at the history, we see that yoga originated in India. It has been around since ancient times and was performed by yogis. In the earlier days, the followers of Hinduism, buddhism and jainism practiced it.
Conclusion : Every year, 21st June is celebrated as International Yoga Day, where people are made aware of the benefits of yoga. Yoga is a great gift to mankind, which helps us keep better and maintain our health. It is the secret to living a healthy and long life without the use of any artificial means like medicines.
